Bepton and Cocking Fete – did you win a coconut?

The Bepton and Cocking fete was successfully held in the garden of the Rectory at Cocking on Saturday, 7th September. A sizeable crowd turned out to make the most of the good weather which was punctuated by some small showers. This year saw the return of the Hoop La stand alongside stalwarts such as the coconut shy, skittles – with Cocking’s legendary big cheese, a variety of tombolas and raffles, and the very impressive book, clothing, toy and white elephant stalls. The competition at the dog show seemed particularly intense.

The children’s wind and brass band, Midhurst Musical Mayhem, entertained the crowd with a couple of sets and weren’t deterred by the occasional shower. They could be heard, at one point, playing from inside the Rectory.

Many thanks are due to all of the helpers both beforehand and on the day. Without them, the fete couldn’t take place. And thanks also to those who donated to the fete, whether in advance, on the day or both. All of the hard work paid off and a sum of £3,388 was raised for the benefit of the Bepton and Cocking Churches.
