Work finished today on the improvement of the footpath at the North end of the village. In the course of doing so, the engineers uncovered some kerb which hasn’t seen the light of day for many years. The problem, as locals will know, is that the footpath suffered from flooding and people had to step out into the road at the bend.
The new footpath has been raised and is, at points, around 200mm higher than the previous one. In addition, some good housekeeping has been done with some service covers being uncovered and replaced. The new footpath has already been tested, given that it was laid during some extensive rain.
Improving that part of the footpath underlines the state of the rest of the path, particularly towards Severals Road. It needs, in the first instance, to be cleared and the Parish Council is looking at how the remainder may be improved. In the meantime, let’s celebrate the new path!
