We would like to remind dog owners that until 31st July dogs should be kept on leads no longer that 2 metres long in the SSSI areas (the South Downs) to keep them away from ground-nesting birds, leverets, fawns, etc.  Also, dogs should be kept under control in areas where there is livestock, which includes collecting your dog’s faeces as there is growing evidence that there is a link between two diseases in livestock and the faeces of infected dogs.
