Midhurst Recycling Centre moves to booking system – max 5 visits per month

West Sussex County Council will be introducing a new booking system at Midhurst Recycling Centre that will allocate a strict 15 min time slot to users with a maximum allowed 5 visits per calendar month. This system is currently in place at most of the other West Sussex recycling centres with the purpose of easing traffic congestion and according to West Sussex Councillor Deborah Urquhart it gives residents more time to select the correct container and staff have more time to offer recycling advice and assistance.

To book an appointment (from February 2024)     BOOK 15 MINUTE TIME SLOT

  • Appointments are available at least 14 days in advance.
  • Same day appointments are available at all sites in the booking scheme.
  • There are a limited number of appointments per day, booked on a ‘first come, first served’ basis.
  • Demand for appointments is likely to be high over certain periods so please cancel unrequired appointments to free up space for other visitors.
  • You need to provide the registration number of the vehicle you will be attending the centre in. If you are hiring a vehicle and this is unknown, you will be asked to show the hire paperwork at the centre.
  • You cannot change the registration number, so ensure this is entered correctly. If you need to change it, you will have to cancel and rebook the appointment.
  • You need to provide your email address so we can send you confirmation of your booking.

To Cancel or Reschedule

You can use the link at the top of your confirmation email to cancel the booking or change it to another date or time.

If you have a query about booking, you can call us Monday-Friday, 9.00am-5.30pm, on 01243 642106. All available appointments are shown on the booking system. Please also be aware that, in accordance with the booking conditions, our advisors are unable to book more than five visits per month, or edit registration numbers on your booking.

Midhurst Recycling Centre Petition successful!

Midhurst Recycling Centre is no longer under threat of closure and there will also be no reduction in opening hours. Although the bustling Midhurst Centre is the smallest out of the 11 centres in West Sussex it has to cover a wider rural area and its closure would have had a massive impact on the community with longer journeys and the potential for more fly-tipping.

Dr Kate O’Kelly who is a West Sussex Councillor represents our area and she organized a petition which received over 3,000 signatures and growing. This petition which was heavily supported by local people and organizations has resulted in West Sussex deciding to keep our recycling centre open.
