Be careful what you wish for

Having noted that there was a lack of water in Bepton last week …

… there was plenty of it before, during and after the weekend. It certainly washed away the snow and there was plenty of water running down all of Bepton’s roads. And there were plenty of new puddles and small ponds in fields and gardens. So, is this winter over? Or can we expect further snow in February?

There are lots of people who complain that we have changing weather patterns for the time of the year. It reminds me that last year we had a very dry March followed by a wet April and someone remarked that it was unseasonable. One of the Parish Councillors in response quoted Chaucer

“When that April with its sweet showers

The drought of March hath pierced to the root”

Maybe there is nothing new under the sun.
