Bepton Parish Council Publishes Transparency Information

Under the Government’s Transparency Code for Smaller Local Authorities, Bepton Parish Council is required to publish certain information. We have now done so on our website and you can find the information here.

The intention of this is to give local people “the tools and information they need to hold public bodies to account”. Bepton PC is very keen that its local electors become involved in what the PC does and, in particular, to hold it to account. Bepton PC is always happy to meet any reasonable request for information beyond its statutory obligations from Bepton residents and we encourage people to scrutinise and challenge us. However, despite the Government’s stating (it) ”  considers that compliance with this Code will not place a significant burden on (smaller) authorities”, we have concerns about the amount of work it involves. We would be interested to know what local people think.
